Mesclun Lettuce mix frames a colorful border in raised veggie garden beds.
January is time to dream of the garden. I recently visited a couple of local garden stores and watched as they packed up the Christmas stuff and brought out the seed packets! Yeah, I love perusing seed racks. It is definitely hope springs eternal as all of the colorful pictures beg me to grow them. Grab a cup of hot tea and sit down to your favorite seed catalog or supplier. For under a couple of dollars a seed packet, you can plant numerous varietiesof goodies for the garden. The only way you can get many varieties is to grow them from seed!
Hot on my favorite seed supplier list. Renee's Seed. A few varieties I grew last year, Very cool "Electric Blue" sweet peas (amazing color), "Super Bush" tomatoes (Stocky plants that didn't need a cage until the fruit got heavy!), "Earl Grey" Larkspur (lovely for the cut flower garden, interesting color), "Tricolor" pole beans (they just dripped beautiful color on the bean trellis, I do love pretty food!) and speaking of pretty food grow the "Paris Market Mix" of meslcun lettuces...tres, tres chic!
